Helen and Jason
A special couple with a special story to tell , Helen and Jason decided to go the traditional route of having both a bridal and a groom’s cake. The bridal cake, ‘Helen’ to be cut and presented to the wedding guests is a 3 tier cake separated with hidden pillars. Rich chocolate mud making up the 2 lower tiers and a traditional rich fruit cake on the top to save for the first child’s christening day. Beautifully decorated with pink roses and gypsophilia, finished with sumptuous ivory satin ribbon. The groom’s ‘Jason’,cake is an American style stack carved and modelled to produce ‘The Road of Life’ It tells the story of the couples first meeting, through their courtship and the marriage proposal depicting memory provoking scenes from these times.
Kama’s Country Garden
A simple yet beautiful design based on a photograph brought to me by the bride of a cup cake. Kama knew exactly what she wanted with regard to colour and theme but was unsure how to convert her ideas into a wedding cake. Together we came up with the finished design which looked absolutely perfect in the venue which was decorated with roses and pink peonies. Extra sugar roses and violets finish the cake table and you can just see a marzipan model of ‘Dave the dog’ peeping around the left hand side of the cake, this was a very personal request from the bride as she wanted her favourite companion at the wedding but unfortunately venue rules and regulations prevented the real ‘Dave ‘ from making an appearance!
Andrea
When Andrea and James came to see me they had decided they didn’t want a traditional wedding cake but something with a bit of a novelty theme, not over the top but tasteful and something that would fit in with the venue decoration and colour scheme.
The parcel stack is a popular choice for many occasions and although I make quite a lot of them there are not two alike. In this case the addition of the hand modelled bride and groom in outfits to match the real couples and the ‘Napier’ stand, hired from Cake Corner for the occasion transformed a generic celebration cake into the beautiful wedding cake you see here.
Hayley
I met with Hayley to discuss possible designs for her wedding cake and she fell in love with a design in a magazine. This is my interpretation of that design. A 3 tier American style stack, dressed as parcels with sheer gold organza ribbon. The top tier is an open box from which beautiful hand made sugar roses and freesias are tumbling. To set off the design, Hayley hired the Gold ‘Napier’ stand from me and I dressed the knife with a matching spray of sugar roses and freesia. This design would look equally as good with any choice of floral arrangement and could be matched to any colour scheme. The Top Table
Janet and Lee decided they wanted something really different for their wedding and asked me if was possible to recreate the top table scene incorporating their best man, page boys and bridesmaids in sugar models, anything is possible and as you can see between us we designed a very humorous snap shot of their special day. Janet also chose to have a miniature replica of her bouquet made in sugar as a keepsake. This particular cake was a 10” x 8” vanilla sponge with jam and real home made butter cream filling but it is possible to build the design on any chosen flavour of cake and any size. |
